The Spanish Football team aren’t the only ones to make the news this week – The Mail, The Sun and The BBC have all reported today that our gardens are becoming overrun with Spanish slugs, a fact that won’t have escaped you gardeners. The slugs lay many hundreds of eggs in each batch and are larger than many native slugs growing up to 12 centimetres. Given the adaptability and invasive nature of the pest the battle between slug and hosta is well and truly on! At Abate we are pleased to be able to offer a helping hand – visit our shop to check out our range of slug traps and bait as well as suggestions and solutions for dealing with other garden pests.
